To give parents peace of mind, popular baby brand Tommee Tippee have recently launched three new baby monitors which are available in store now.
I have been lucky enough to review one of these for you, it’s called the Closer to Nature DECT Sound Monitor and it is packed with features. The sleek design of the baby unit will look at home in any nursery and the parent unit looks similar to a phone and is unobtrusive in black and white.

The parent unit comes with rechargeable batteries so you can have it in any room in the house, or even outdoors. The monitor has a range of up to 300 metres so you can be out in the garden and still keep an “ear” on your little one while they nap. The baby unit can also take rechargeable batteries but these aren’t included (and not a feature you would need often).
Another function of the baby monitor which is such a plus for parents is that it monitors the nursery’s room temperature. Displayed in degrees Celsius, the temperature is shown on both units so you can rest assured they are comfortable no matter what the season.

A night light is also included and this can be controlled by parents, and the sound volume can be adjusted as required. If you lose the parent unit you can page it (even if you only need to use this once it will save your sanity) and if you are out of range it will give you an alert.
To offer your child a reassuring word without leaving your cosy bed, the monitor can work two ways so you can talk to your baby – this might be all it takes to settle them back into dreamland.
If you are wondering what the DECT stands for in the name, it means “Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications”. This means it is high tech digital rather than standard digital or analogue, so interference is less and the sound quality is much clearer. This is the first sound and movement monitor in Australia with this kind of technology so it really is cutting edge.
I have previously used a traditional sound and lights monitor and can definitely notice the superior quality and features of the new Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature DECT Sound Monitor.
