School Holidays With The Kids (Plus WIN with Peppa Pig)

The holidays seem to always come around quickly, and keeping the kids entertained for days on end can be tricky. With an almost 3 year old girl and a 5 year old boy their attention spans vary (as do their interests) but here are a few of my favourite things which I will be doing to keep them entertained during the Easter holidays:

PARKS:

I don’t know who is more obsessed with parks, my kids or their mum! Playgrounds and ovals are a free activity that wears out little legs while encouraging them to be fit and active. I like to take a thermos with coffee and snacks for a playdate with a mummy friend. There are so many amazing playgrounds that some days we just hop in the car to find and explore a new one. We always keep a ball in the car and often take their bikes / scooters (if you are in SA, Bonython Park is one of the best).

MOVIES:

My daughter has only just started being able to sit through a movie so it is still a novelty for her. Kids releases to look out for in the next few weeks include The Lego Movie, Mr Peabody and Sherman and Muppets Most Wanted. Check your local cinema because sometimes you can see older screenings such as The Little Mermaid for $8. We take our own snacks and bottle of water.

COOKING AND CRAFT:

This can get messy but worth the peace and quiet if it is bad weather outside and the little ones are feeling restless. Favourites in my house are playdough , decorating boxes with stickers, textas and embellishments (they love it but the boxes always seem to be big), painting the outside walls with water and paint brushes and…mud. Sometimes we set out an outside table with old pots and pans and they dig and make mud pies.

PLAY CAFES:

A great place to catch up with friends and family, you can supervise and have a coffee while the children run and climb round and round for ages. There really should be more around because they are always very busy during the holidays. A relatively safe play environment with padding that normally has a separate area for the smaller kids.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT:

During the holidays one day is an adventure day. A day when your budget isn’t really considered and you do something you haven’t done for a long time. It’s always a fun day visiting the Zoo and for my son the Museum is quite a thrill. Over the Christmas holidays we visited a few different school fairs and always keep a look out for family events in our area. The beach is always a hit and there are lots of great places tucked away to explore.

  1. My beautiful grandson Tyler adores peppa pig and this would help my daughter prepare dinner in peace as she has recently become a single mum and doesn’t get alot of help so this would be great for both of them 🙂

  2. I have two little girls who are Peppa Pig obsessed! They love playing Peppa Pig games together so the dominoes would be a hit, and what child doesn’t love chocolate! I’m sure Miss 6 would let Miss 3 have the backpack ready for when she starts Kindy next year.

  3. There is a Peppa Pig fan in my life,
She makes me laugh and gets into strife,
Playing in the dirt or riding her bike,
    She’s an absolute delight!

She watches Peppa Pig on DVD,
This gives me a moment for a cup of tea,
Then she’s back outside running around,
Her bare little feet hardly touching the ground.

When she sings she really sings out loud,
This old granny couldn’t be more proud,
Of this little girl who loves Peppa Pig,
If I won this prize it’s to her I’d give.

She would love it with all her might,
She’d wear that backpack day and night,
She’d munch on chocolate and play dominoes,
With me happily tickling her toes.

  4. My son is obsessed with peppa pig as soon as I go to get him out of bed he snorts like a pig to let me know he wants to watch peppa pig

  5. My 2 year old daughter loves Peppa so much that she has picked up some naughty habits, like getting muddy when it rains! She would love the Peppa backpack for kindy and the chocolate and dominoes will keep her quiet Easter morning so I can have a sleep in!

  6. When Peppa Pig comes on , I can sit back and relax with a Coffee as she keeps the kids enchanted with her antics.

  7. I have 2 fans in my house, mr 5 and miss 7 just love watching Peppa Pig, they get the snorts and then the giggles, it’s very funny!

  8. My 4 year old would go and live with Peppa if she could.! She is obsessed.. dances in the puddles – cause that is what Peppa does, rolls down hills – cause that is what Peppa does… everything she does is a Peppa re-inactment. .

  9. Every morning when I get my little guy up, the first thing that is said…
    “Snort, snort! Mummy, one more?”
Followed round the house while making toast & a cup of tea, I hear…
    “Snort, snort! Mummy, one more?”
Until 7.35 finally rolls round & he hears the magic tune, not one, but TWO Peppa Pig shows to see! Lucky for Mummy… 10 minutes of peace! And then…
    “Snort, snort! Mummy, one more?”
“Lucky for YouTube & DVDs” is what this mummy thinks! 10 minutes of Peppa just isn’t enough!

  10. I have a little case that I have a collection of treasures, so when my granddaughters come to visit Proxy (that’s me) I’ve always got something that they’d like to play with, have me read to them or for us to watch together. This Peppa Pig DVD would be a great, new addition to our treasure case.

  11. My daughter. She loves and adores Peppa. Usually imitates what she does on tv. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to win this prize! Xox

  12. As a proud mum of two,
    Beautiful raven girls.
    Ages One and Two,
They’re the centres of my world!

My days are graced with play times,
Where first steps are slowly taken.
    Washing can wait till later,
There’s memories we need to be making!

    Between chasing my cheeky toddler,
And getting lost in my baby’s eyes.
    My girls are growing faster,
And the days just seem to fly!

    A moment that I cherish.
Is an hour spent each day.
Where we watch their favourite show,
    And engage in active play.

    Peppa Pig and George.
    Their favourite piglet pair!
    From their snuffly little snouts,
    To their bristly little hairs.

    The laughter is amazing.
    The smiles… simple joy.
    As my daughters enjoy Peppa,
    And cuddle Peppa toys.

    It’s fairly safe to say,
They are Fans until the end!
    Mini puddle jumping piglets,
    And Peppa’s two best friends!

  14. This ones not for me…I would love to win it for a work colleague who is a young Nanna (40) with two grandchildren living at her house with their mums as well. I know both grandsons are peppa mad who would adore this prize 😉

  15. An amazing opportunity thank you.

Peppa Pig is such a delight.

If you had told me ages ago that a pig could be so loved I would not have believed it.

Lessons to learn & fun to be had.

My little one is a sweetheart & I’m happy she is embracing the differences & the similarities.

  16. My 14 month grandson has seen Peppa Pig that many times with his older sister that as soon as he sees her he points and says ‘Peppa’. One cute little SUPER fan.
