A new event in town is welcoming one and all in honour of the humble little plastic bricks we know and love as LEGO®. Enter Bricktopia, the new LEGO fan event in the heart of Adelaide.
Over 20 exhibitors will converge on the Drill Hall at Torrens Parade Ground on 17 and 18 May to showcase their creations on the theme ‘Transport Across Time’ crafted by young and old and to be admired by every generation. For die-hard LEGO fans there is the added draw-card of the one and only LEGO Certified Professional brick sculptor in the southern hemisphere – Ryan McNaught – appearing with his famous Love Boat creation.
Fans will feast their eyes on exhibits that consist of up to 10,000 elements painstakingly constructed over many months especially for this event.
There will be displays of pre-loved vintage LEGO toys from the last 80 years as well as comparisons between the first version of a LEGO set against the current model. A far cry from LEGO’s early wooden and metal toys, Bricktopia will show how creativity knows no bounds
when building with plastic bricks. In addition to the exhibits, there will be specialist traders – the largest gathering yet seen in Adelaide. They’ll offer both current and historic LEGO for sale.
As part of About Time: South Australia’s History Festival, this new event is organised by the National Motor Museum in conjunction with Southern Bricks LEGO Users Group. There will be a pop-up museum with some cars on display and model boats from the South Australian
Maritime Museum’s collection to complete what promises to be a spectacular event.
