Pregnancy is full of highs and lows, and one of the most unique and fascinating occurrences during this time is a growing belly.
Now you can remember your pregnant body forever with the help of a Pregnancy Belly Casting Kit…
The company Belly Art began in 2000, when one of the founders Nicole was pregnant with her first child. She had read about how popular casting kits were overseas and asked her close friend and artist Ilana to cast her belly, and the idea grew from there.
Belly Castings are now very popular and always in demand, and the girls have made a very successful business. They can cast your belly for you, or you can purchase an at home Pregnancy Belly Casting Kit.
The Belly Casting Kits are extremely easy to use at home, however you will require someone to apply it for you.
Each kit contains:
3 rolls of high grade plaster strip
1 jar Vaseline
1 jar Gesso
1 flat paintbrush
Easy to follow step by step instructions
The process takes around half an hour so it’s important to sit in a comfortable position. I would suggest placing an old pillow behind you to make sure you don’t get a sore back.
I was surprised how quickly the plaster set; I thought I may be waiting for hours but everything was so quick and easy – even the uncraftiest person can apply the cast without making a mistake. The instructions are excellent, and there was virtually no mess.
Once the layers have set, you simply wriggle your belly and it gently slides off.
The next step is to decide whether to decorate your cast or leave it as is. I asked Nicole her suggestions and she said,
“We recommend using acrylic paints to decorate the cast. There are unlimited options to decorate yourself; simply put handprints of your kids and hubby on the cast, a photo collage, or when your child is old enough, you can get them to do a drawing on the cast.”
I love the idea of using your child’s drawings or handprints; it will give your cast a personal touch. Hang your cast on the wall for a unique reminder of the special time you shared with your child before the birth – it also makes a great talking point for guests.
The Pregnancy Belly Casting Kits from Belly Art are highly recommended by Beauty and Lace. I had so much fun sharing the experience with my husband, and it was a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Pregnancy Belly Casting Kits are available from: www.bellyart.com.au and RRP for $69.95
